If you are from a less populous state, such as Hawaii, the Dakotas, or Montana, your geography is more likely to benefit your admissions prospects. At Boston University, there is at least one student from each state. Meaning that the freshman class of 2021–22 includes students from every state.

How BU Assesses Applicants

Boston University Considers Just Three Elements To Be “Extremely Essential” In Their Admissions Process:

    • Secondary school record,
    • GPA,
    • Student’s talent/ability.

Class rank, GPA, essays, references, extracurricular activities, and character/personal characteristics are all deemed “essential.” Because the school is again test-optional.

BU places high importance on an applicant’s “talent/ability.” In fact, they take great satisfaction in highlighting their incoming freshman’s unique accomplishments outside of the classroom.

For instance, if you have a unique talent and you have been recruited as an athlete to play on one of Boston University’s 24 Division l sports teams.

Should You Consider Applying to Boston University?

Students with SATs less than 1400 and/or a 3.75 GPA will most certainly need a “hook” to realize their ambition of becoming a Terrier.

With a 14% admission rate, BU is exclusively interested in kids who have 95th percentile or above standardized test scores and have achieved largely A’s in an extremely challenging high school curriculum.

If Boston University is your goal, be sure you have a sound backup plan in place. All students must ensure that they create an adequate college list that includes both “goal” and “safety” colleges. You should absolutely do this in collaboration with an admissions specialist.
