What is the full Armor of God?

The Armor of God: How to Prepare for Spiritual Warfare

Armor of God in Scripture

The phrase “full armor of God” is derived from Ephesians 6:13-17, which states, “Therefore, put on the entire armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand steady, then, with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness on, and your feet equipped with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all of this, pick up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all of the evil one’s blazing darts. “Put on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word.

Biblical Meaning of the Armor of God

The Armor of God is a biblical allegory that reminds Christians of the reality of spiritual warfare and emphasizes the protection that is accessible to them. Christians are called to put on the whole armor of God, which includes the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit.

According to Ephesians 6:12, the struggle with Satan is spiritual, and so no real weapons may be effectively used against him and his henchmen. We are not provided with a list of precise strategies that Satan will employ. However, the verse makes it abundantly plain that if we faithfully follow all of the directions, we will be able to stand and win regardless of Satan’s approach.

Six(6) Elements of the Armor of God

Armour is truth

This is understandable given that Satan is known as the “Father of Lies” (John 8:44). Deception is high on God’s list of things that are an abomination. One of the things He mentions as “detestable to Him” is a “lying tongue”. As a result, we are urged to put on truth for our own sanctification and deliverance, as well as for the benefit of those to whom we bear witness.

Breastplate of Righteousness.

A breastplate protected a warrior’s major organs from potentially lethal assaults. This righteousness is not the result of human efforts of righteousness. Rather, it is Christ’s righteousness, imputed by God and received by faith, that defends our hearts from Satan’s accusations and charges and protects our innermost being from his attacks.

The Shield of Faith

The mentioned shield of faith renders Satan’s planting of doubt regarding God and His Word ineffective. Our faith, of which Christ is “the author and perfecter” (Hebrews 12:2), is priceless, strong, and substantial, like a golden shield.

The Sword of the Spirit

It is the divine Word. The sword of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon in God’s armor, while all the other pieces of spiritual armor are defensive in character. It speaks of God’s Word’s holiness and strength. It is impossible to imagine a more powerful spiritual weapon. The Word of God was always Jesus’ powerful response to Satan in the desert temptations. What a blessing that we have access to the same Word!

The Helmet of Salvation

We could say that our way of thinking must be preserved. The head is the temple of the mind, and once it has grasped the firm gospel prospect of eternal life, it will not accept erroneous doctrine or succumb to Satan’s temptations. Because he lacks the helmet of salvation and his thinking is incapable of distinguishing between spiritual truth and spiritual deceit, the unsaved individual has no hope of fending off the blows of erroneous theology.

The Gospel of Peace

preparing the feet for spiritual combat. In battle, an enemy may occasionally place dangerous impediments in the path of advancing soldiers. The concept of preparing the gospel of peace as footwear explains what we need to do to march into Satan’s realm, understanding that there will be traps and with the message of grace that is so important in bringing souls to Christ. Satan has erected numerous impediments to the spread of the gospel.

Conclusion

The armor of God reflects the spiritual defense we must employ. According to the Bible, we are at war with Satan, who desires to destroy us. As a result, we must take action and don God’s armor.
It is critical for Christians to comprehend the gravity of this conflict. Because it is frequently something we cannot see, it is easy to lose sight of the influence it can have. However, it is extremely perilous when we fail to equip ourselves with God’s armor and allow the enemy to take control of our lives.
