Mercy Johnson Background
Mercy Johnson Okojie (born August 28, 1984) is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, and producer. She attended a Rivers State Secondary School in addition to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for her secondary education. She auditioned for a role in the film “The Maid” shortly after finishing secondary school and went on to appear in other films such as Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, War in the Palace, and others.

Mercy Okojie hails from Okene in Kogi State. Born in Lagos State to a former naval officer, Daniel Johnson and his wife Elizabeth, she is the fourth child in the family of seven.

She started her primary education in Calabar, Cross River State. Her father, being a naval officer, was later transferred to Lagos State, where she continued her education at the Nigerian Navy Primary School. She went to Rivers State Secondary School for her secondary education, in addition to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

She auditioned for a role in The Maid shortly after finishing high school and has since appeared in films such as Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, and War in the Palace. She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 2009 African Movie Awards for her performance in the film “Live to Remember” in 2009.
Mercy was once barred from acting because she was too expensive. On 3 November 2013, Nollywood movie marketers threatened to bar her from the industry due to her high demands. She and other Nollywood stars, including Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Richard Mofe Damijo, Emeka Ike, Ramsey Nouah, Nkem Owoh, Stella Damasus, and Jim Iyke, were barred from acting because they allegedly demanded exorbitant pay raises per movie. However, following an apology from the actress, marketers/producers lifted the ban on March 9, 2014.
Her first film as a producer was The Legend of Inikpi.
Mercy Marriage and Children
On August 27, 2011, she married Prince Odianosen Okojie. The couple has four kids.
