Don Jazzy: Background
Don Jazzy (born Michael Collins Ajereh on November 26, 1982) is a Nigerian record producer. He is the CEO and founder of Mavin Records. Don Jazzy and D’banj co-owned the now-defunct Mo’ Hits Records record label. Don Jazzy was raised in Ajegunle, Lagos, by Ajereh’s family.

He attended Federal Government College Lagos, a co-educational high school. Don Jazzy developed an early interest in music and began playing the bass guitar and piano at the age of 12. He also learned about traditional and percussion instruments. Don Jazzy studied business management at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo state.

Don Jazzy and D’Banj co-founded Mo’ Hits Records in 2004. Don Jazzy produced the albums No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up over the next two years. Don Jazzy developed a memorable introduction around this time, “It’s Don Jazzy Again!”
Don Jazzy was credited in the production of D’Banj’s The Entertainer in 2008. He also helped to produce Wande Coal’s Mushin 2 MoHits, which was dubbed “one of the best albums to ever come out of Nigeria.”

In 2019, he signed Rema, and in 2020, he signed Ayra Starr to Mavins Record Label. Magixx, a new artist, was announced in 2021. In 2022, Don Jazzy signed new artists, Boy Spyce and Bayanni.
